For this edition, Lamego city hall has provided an exclusive and free camping area for ZigurFest visitors. The Parque de Campismo is right next to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios. Maybe because of that it is blessed with wide, airy spaces, filled with the trees, and has bathrooms and hot water showers. However, there are limited vacancies and you must sign up here to guarantee your spot.

From August 21st to 24th, this city is ours. For four days, Lamego sets out to discover a tradition that is already its own.
In this old fashioned fair, we set up our stages wherever they will fit so that new things can peek out at us at every step. These days, Lamego swings from music to contemporary art, keeping its eyes wide open to everything new, ears set on the reverb that takes over the streets.
We are treading the path of healthy risk, patiently and looking ahead under the sign of discovery, of challenge. This is why we present music and art with no labels or genres, only with an urgency to be seen. And maybe that’s also why after nine editions we have yet to repeat a single invitation, which certifies the vitality and freshness of the many songs done here.
Under the motto that for four days the city is ours, yours, and also of whoever makes it here, come with the certainty that we have always worked to make ZigurFest and Lamego into safe spaces, comfortable, tolerant, where every way of being is embraced and respected. For those coming for the first time, we leave a promise: everyone is welcome to celebrate with us
Let’s look at the city as a massive stage: where immersion is intended as total, where there is time for concerts to be seen, where everyone is a headliner, but above all as a place where we feel like we are as a family in celebrating nonstop from August 21st to 24th.
Holding the city as a wide nerve center, we tread new paths all the way to Museu de Lamego, Rua da Olaria and Parque Isidoro Guedes. We also revisit old familiar places including the auditorium of the Teatro Ribeiro Conceição, making room for other places to shine. That’s why we’re making our debut inside the Castle of Lamego, perpetuating the logic of preservation and rediscovery and of embracing the daily routines of the city.
This is where those that we consider the strongest representatives of Portuguese music in 2019 will be coming through: Filipe Sambado & Os Acompanhantes de Luxo, Glockenwise, Chinaskee, Krake + Adolfo Luxúria Canibal, Odete, Jasmim, Violeta Azevedo, Minus & MRDolly, Algumacena, Mynda Guevara, Luís Vicente + João Valinho, Terebentina, Dada Garbeck, IVY, Djumbai Djazz, Stasya, Zentex, Afta 3000, Conferência Inferno, 3I3O, Menino da Mãe + Raphael Soares, Tiago e os Tintos, Daniel Catarino.
And, because every year our will to leave a larger mark than the physical ephemerality of concerts continues to grow, ZONA comes back with us. A week of studies unfolding into two: in plastic and visual arts, and in videoart. All of it is translated into an exhibition which aligns with the festival’s values: challenging, urgent, and posing questions.
Finally, that end of night tip everyone will be asking about: this year we’ll be dancing for real. From August 21ST to 23RD, we’ll find shelter in afterparties to keep dancing and set fire to the floor and our bodies every night until 6AM.
To travellers finding us from afar, they’ll find at Zigurfest’s Camping Park, provided once again by Lamego City Hall, a free, sunny space which is set up in a green part of town, ready to welcome those who have travelled to discover the city and the most exciting music of the year. The Park has limited capacity and you’ll need to sign up at www.zigurfest.com
Until then, take to the road. The festival is free and we’re already waiting for you.
Within the city’s green lung, our camping area which Lamego City Hall has made available promises an ideal haven for those who need to recover their mind and body from the Lamego comings and goings. By the Pavilhão do Complexo Desportivo de Lamego, it has all the commodities you might ask for at times like these (including hot water). And at the quietest moments, don’t hesitate: get lost in the green walking paths and let yourself be carried by the luxurious landscape.
The Parque de Campismo has limited spots, and each time you register you’re booking a slot for a two person tent (for larger tents, you’ll need to make more than one reservation). Ensure your spot and sign up now.

ZONA is a contemporary art platform headquartered in Lamego. Birthed from the ZigurFest festival and created by the plastic and visual artist João Pedro Fonseca, it emerged from the need to integrate in the Lamego municipality the different variants of contemporary artistic expression.
August 21st - 5H30PM - Casa do Artista
The work by two plastic and visual artists will be presented at Casa do Artista, by the Castelo de Lamego (Lamego Castle). The works that have been developed by these artists are the fruit of a work of three weeks (the period of the residence) and looks to mix contemporary artistic expression with elements of the city and the region.
Chana de Moura (1989) is a Plastic Arts graduate from Porto’s Faculdade de Belas Artes. She is a visual artist, educator and illustrator. In Porto Alegre, she was shortlisted to the Prémio Açorianos de Artes Plásticas in the categories Breakthrough Artist, Photography Highlight and Best Collective Exhibit. This year, she was the winner in the Bienal Ci.CLO de Fotografia do Porto residency program.
Pedro Cabrita Paiva (1991) is a Painting graduate from the Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon and already has a resume in individual exhibits which have travelled through cities including Lisbon, Barcelona and Turin. In 2017 he started, together with the artists Aires de Gameiro, Hugo Gomes and Nuno Ferreira, the artist-run space Las Palmas in Lisbon. Las Palmas is a place for artistic experimentation, looking to reflect and act upon contemporary practices in the field of visual arts.
August 21st - 6H30PM - Museu de Lamego
João Pedro Fronseca is the artist from Lamego who puts together the pieces that form the ZigurFest image. As has become customary, we want that those who visit us also get a better idea of João Pedro’s art and creative process, so he has been invited to do an intervention on the top floor of the Castelo de Lamego Tower, putting together an exclusive piece for the festival.
ESPECTADORES is an audiovisual installation about the spectator and contemplation: there is evil in being a spectator, for two reasons. Firstly, to look is the opposite of knowing. The spectator remains before an appearance, ignoring the process of producing it or the reality it covers up. Secondly, it is the opposite of acting. The spectator remains motionless in place, passive. Being a spectator is to be separate from the ability to know and the power to act.
August 21st to 24th - Castelo de Lamego
In 2019 we started a new project within ZONA, broadening it to the new media arts, by including videoart as artistic expression. The Janela project consists of a showcase of videoart pieces to be shown during ZigurFest at Museu de Lamego, in cohabitation with that space’s permanent exhibition.
August 23rd - 3PM - Casa do Artista (Workshop)
This workshop speaks to musical production looking to create a soundscape that evokes the mind processes of a dream. Informed by dub and musique concrète, we will explore the narrative development of a space, by turning organic sounds into abstract processes and vice versa.
August 24th - 3PM - Casa do Artista (Workshop + Live/Performance)
This workshop is intended as sharing some exercises which are part of the artist’s creative process of composing and approaching the conscious present body. The workshop ends with a Carincur live act, presenting her new album “Sorry If I make love with Sound” which was put out at the start of the year by ZABRA records.
These workshops require a previous registration through fb.com/zona.lamego
